The Bid Engineer collaborates within the Price Studies Department, contributing to tender responses. In this capacity, they participate in the technical and financial evaluation of a project and the preparation of tender proposals. Organized and analytically skilled, the engineer plays a crucial role in securing new contracts.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Manager. They will be responsible for, but are not limited to, the following activities:
1. Adherence to Quality, Safety, and Environmental guidelines:
- Comply with general safety guidelines, promote a preventive approach
2. Business Development:
- Monitor various platforms for business opportunities.
- Network with key players in the industry.
- Attend various industry related events and meetings.
- Implement a follow-up system for potential target projects.
- Prepare and submit Letters of Interest and NDAs for target projects.
3. Execute or Participate in Certain Steps of the Study Process Below:
- Verify the completeness of the consultation documents.
- Analyze the consultation documents.
- Maintain transparency with superiors regarding any difficulties encountered.
- Seek support from NGE support services if required.
- Conduct site visits.
- Personally produce or delegate quantity take-offs and solicitations of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Define execution methods and create execution plans.
- Provide cost estimates.
- Collaborate with consortium partners for study needs.
- Monitor and control outsourced services.
- Prepare documents for closure.
4. Contribute to the Tender Proposal:
- Participate in the drafting of technical and financial sections of the proposal.
- Ensure the proposal reflects a thorough understanding of client needs.
5. Participate in Analyzing Strategic Points:
- Propose methodological optimizations and alternatives.
- Participate in risk and opportunity analysis before finalizing decisions with management.
- Participate in the handover of studies to the works teams if necessary.
6. Assist with Procurement Activities:
- Assist procurement teams to source and connect with prospective suppliers.
- Prepare packages for RFPs.
- Assist Procurement teams from projects in liaising with subcontractors.
- Support project managers with procurement tasks.
For this position, the ideal candidate should have the following skills, experience and knowledge:
Essential:
- BSc in Civil Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Well versed in the MS Office suite
- Mastery of one or more planning software(s)
- Proficiency in one or more tender study software(s)
- Knowledge of one or more trades within the group
Desirable:
- Work experience in the construction/railway industry
- Methodical and organized
- Ability to work in a team
